Two years ago my family and I moved to East Texas to minister at First Baptist Church Lindale. After having spent twelve years pastoring one church in Florida, it was a big change to pull up our roots and leave the people we loved so much. We were not expecting a move, but God had other plans for our lives. God has been more than gracious in the transition, and we are glad to be back home in Texas.
My fondest memories of the Seminary were the love, care, and instruction I received from the professors. I can honestly say that Dr. Toussaint made one of the greatest impacts on my life as he not only taught me to love the Word but truly showed me how to graciously live out the Word in my life. As I sat under his teaching and watched his gracious spirit, I prayed that God would grow me into that type of man to lead God's people. Although I am long from it, this continues to be my prayer to grow not only in the knowledge of God's Word but in His grace.
The greatest contribution I received from my time at DTS was being taught how to accurately handle the Word of God. It has provided the very foundation for my ministry and life as I have shepherded God's people and taught that God's Word is sufficient for every area of life. What I received from the Bible Exposition Department was a gift far greater than I could have ever imagined. I pray that God will find me a faithful steward of what I have received and use it for His glory.
