Commencement festivities kicked off with a special chapel service held at Scofield Memorial Church Friday morning. In the evening graduates and their guests gathered on campus for a Texas-style party. Faculty served up plates of barbecue, baked beans, and peach cobbler while a rag-time band led by Chaplain Bill Bryan filled the air with music.

On Saturday, Dallas Theological Seminary celebrated God's faithful work in the lives of more than 380 new graduates at commencement exercises held at Prestonwood Baptist Church. The ceremony also marked the beginning of the Seminary's year-long 90th anniversary celebrations, commemorating the school's establishment and first classes in 1924.
Using passages from 2 Chronicles 14-16 as the guiding Scripture for the ceremony, the Class of 2014 was reminded to approach their new roles with a reliance on the Lord and not on their own skills or strength.
“For my fellow graduates, my prayer echoes the charge my pastor gave me a mere week ago: As we now branch out into the world to do the work of ministry, I pray that, with renewed vigor, we commit to fleeing that which is immoral, pursuing that which is righteous, and fighting the good fight with endurance (1 Tim. 6). I pray that we all continue to keep a finger on the Text and our eyes on our Lord Jesus Christ.”
—Josiah Boyd, graduating class president
